Riding Lawn Mower Stutter Problem…?

I have a MTD riding mower with auto trans. When the mower is in forward it stutters almost like stop and go and doesn’t go forward smoothly. Although in reverse is goes very very smooth. I tuned up the motor and replaced all the belts and blades. I’m guessing it may be the forward gear on on the trans? Anyone have an idea what else it may be? And/Or where I can find parts to fix the trans? It has a 17HP V-twin Briggs and Stratton btw. Thanks.

Also how much would something like this cost? Like a ballpark fig. Thanks.

Check the trans fluid level in trans. Most only hold 10 12 oz.
